Westfund’s unique model enables us to serve more residents while still providing high-quality medical services at affordable rates. While other insurers may be able to cover new procedures or procedures that are not covered by BCBS (BCBS is the only private insurer in BC), Westfund strives to provide all procedures that are covered by BCBS so that all billing is done through BCBS. This way all members receive the same amount for their premium as well as any claim or payment received from their doctor.
Westfund does not accept any type of out-of-pocket payments from patients who must pay out-of-pocket because they cannot afford it. For Westfund’s members to receive higher benefits (and lower premiums) they must contribute as much as they can towards their out-of-pocket costs every month regardless of whether they have insurance or not.
Those who cannot afford it can apply for assistance through our “Payment Assistance Program” which helps them pay their premiums without having it deducted from their income which ultimately leads them to pay less than what they would have paid if they did not have additional coverage as well as covering costs that would otherwise be out-of-pocket expenditures like medications or hospitalization costs.

Westfund Community Health Fund recently launched a new Platinum Extra package. This package covers the following benefits:
- 1) Medical cover for Specialist Consultation

- 3) Medical cover for Home working trips Absence from work or savings from home jobs are allowed before and after medical visits. Excess cash awarded during medical consultations is not payable to the provider. Allowances are subject to our current policies.
The premium of this package will be $50 per person per year, plus $5 per person per day until you reach a minimum amount of $10,000. Earnings above the minimum threshold will need to be deposited by Westfund to qualify as income for tax purposes (currently this is an issue).
Westfund currently has two plans available: Westfund Platinum Extra and Westfund Gold Extra (‘Westfund Gold’). The Platinum Extra plan provides medical cover for specialist consultation and immunizations while the Gold Extra plan covers prescription medication and home working trips.

Westfund is located in Porirua, in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand, just north of Auckland. West fit Travel Insurance offers up to $2 million worth of travel insurance for families traveling together, business travelers, or students all at one fixed price per person per trip. It covers the entire family when traveling on holiday or business, with a minimum coverage limit per person between $25K and $50K depending on age.
It can be used in conjunction with existing health cover or it can be used by itself as an additional cover if needed (in this case $250K covers up to $1 million). West fit Travel Insurance also covers non-residents who wish to use it in conjunction with existing health cover or as an additional cover where required (in this case $750K covers up to $2 million).
