Noni Suraksha Yojana: The Noni Suraksha Yojana, launched in 2014 by the Women and Child Development Department of the Chhattisgarh government, aims to reduce the gender imbalance among children and promote a positive social attitude towards girls.

Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs. 100,000/- is provided upon fulfilling certain conditions, and Rs. 25,000/- is invested in the name of the beneficiary girl child through the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).

Objective of the Noni Suraksha Yojana

The objectives of this scheme are-

Development of girl children- Through financial assistance, the state government will be able to improve the overall condition of girl children born in BPL families.

Prevention of child marriage- This scheme aims to discourage families from marrying off girls who have not yet reached the age of 18.

Increase in gender ratio- The gender ratio in Chhattisgarh is somewhat low. Such a project will encourage poor families to welcome the birth of girl children. This scheme also reduces incidents of female infanticide.

Eligibility Criteria

Girls born after 2014 — only those girl children who were born after April 2014 will be allowed to be part of this development project.

Residents of Chhattisgarh – The child’s parents or guardians must have permanent residency in Chhattisgarh.

Two girls per family– This scheme will be provided to you only when you have your first or second daughter in the family. The benefit will not be given after the third daughter. The project states that each eligible family can receive this grant for two daughters. If the mother gives birth to twin daughters, both may receive this financial assistance.

For BPL families – The state government has created this scheme to help the poor and needy sections of society. Families falling under the BPL category have negative perceptions of their daughters. Implementing this scheme will help change their mindset.
