What is the nutritional difference between butter and margarine? Margarine is less expensive but more expensive in health terms. As hard as it may be to believe, margarine was once considered healthy. But today, we know better! Margarine: ・provides no nutrients ・increases your risk of heart disease ・weighs more than butter so it’s higher in calories and fat with the same number of servings. So why would anyone use margarine over butter? Well, maybe they don’t know about its negative effects on their health!

In fact, food companies generally advise people not to eat them. The fats in butter provide necessary vitamins such as vitamin A and vitamin D while margarine provides none. It also lacks many important minerals like potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Even though many people think that they’re simply substituting one type of fat for another when they use low- or non-fat products such as skim milk instead of whole milk, skim milk contains substantially more sugar.
