HRIDAY Scheme : The HRIDAY Scheme officially known as the National Heritage City Development & Augmentation Yojana was introduced by Government of India under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on 21st January, 2015. This scheme was launched to preserve and develops India’s rich culture heritage in selected cities by improving infrastructure , protecting historic areas and promoting urban sustainable development.

The scheme aims to improve safety, accessibility, Livelihood, cleanliness and service delivery in heritage cities. Candidates can go through the detailed table provided below to acknowledge clear understanding of the scheme.

Objectives of HRIDAY Scheme

The main objectives of HRIDAY Scheme are as follows

  • Preserve and improve heritage sites so tourist can experience each cities unique identity.
  • Improve basic services such as sanitation, water taps, Street light, public toilets and tourist facilities.
  • Use modern technology CCTV to make cities more informative & secure.
  • Plan and build infrastructure that respect heritage and improves services in historic city areas.
  • Improve access to heritage sites by building better roads, using universal design, mapping sites with GIS and creating digital records.
  • Support local jobs by promoting economic activities, improving skills, and making public and cultural spaces accessible.
  • Create a detailed list of a city’s build, cultural and living heritage to help in better urban planning and service delivery.
